Android devices differ by manufacturer, but IMAP settings are the same. These steps cover the common Gmail app flow and also apply to Samsung Email with minor label differences.
Using the Gmail app
- Open Gmail → menu → Add another account.
- Choose Other (not Google).
- Enter your full domain email address → Manual setup.
- Select Personal (IMAP).
- Enter the mailbox password.
Server settings
- Incoming:
mail.yourdomain.com, port 993, SSL/TLS, username = full email - Outgoing SMTP:
mail.yourdomain.com, port 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS), require sign-in, username = full email
Finish the wizard, set a display name, and send a test message.
Samsung Email app
- Open Email → add account.
- Enter address and password → choose IMAP if asked.
- Enter the same incoming/outgoing values as above.
Tips
- Always use the full email as the username.
- If Android auto-detects wrong servers, switch to manual setup immediately.
- After a password reset in cPanel, update the account password on the phone.
For certificate mismatch errors, use the exact mail hostname printed in your Domain & Host welcome email.
